Nowadays, depression is one of the most common psychological disorders, posing a significant challenge in the lives of individuals in later stages of life. It can affect their quality of life and various physical and mental aspects. The aim of this study was to predict depressive symptoms based on physical activity, pain-related disability, and body perception, with the mediation of quality of life. This research was applied in nature and used a descriptive method with structural equation modeling. The statistical population of this study consisted of all individuals over the age of 60, from whom 300 participants were selected using convenience sampling at the Experience Garden in Isfahan in the year 1402. The data collection tools included the Geriatric Depression Scale by Yesavage et al., the Physical Activity Scale by Washburn et al., the Pain Disability Index by Melzack, the Body Perception Questionnaire by Cash et al., and the quality-of-life Scale by Diego et al. Data analysis was conducted using structural equation modeling with AMOS23 and SPSS23 software. The results indicated that the causal model showed good fit in the study sample (p<0.05). Findings also revealed that physical activity, pain-related disability, and body perception had an indirect relationship with depressive symptoms through quality of life (p<0.05). Based on these findings, individuals who lead a more active and dynamic lifestyle tend to experience better body perception, lower pain-related disability, and improved psychological well-being and quality of life. Therefore, health policymakers are advised to develop programs and provide facilities to promote physical activity among this group. Additionally, light exercise and regular physical activity should be considered as cost-effective and healthy methods for preventing age-related issues, as they contribute to the improvement and development of various aspects of quality of life.
